Bio
Lennart Gruenhagen is a musician, sound artist, and composer – his work moves between acoustic instrumental music and electronic sound aesthetics. His musical interest began at the age of eight with the drums. Early on, he developed a passion for rhythm and sonic textures that motivated him to also learn guitar and electric bass, and soon after to dedicate himself to songwriting and music production.

Over the years, this evolved into an individual artistic signature, shaped by live looping, electroacoustic experiments, and the connection of diverse sound sources. For four years now, he has been working intensively with Ableton Live, which has become a central tool of his musical practice – both in creative production and in live performances.
His education at the Vocational School for Music in Dinkelsbühl, which he completed in 2024 as a „State-Certified Choir and Ensemble Director with Additional Pedagogical Qualification,“ gave him important technical and artistic impulses. There he immersed himself comprehensively in drums, percussion, composition, ear training, music theory, music history, ensemble direction, and pedagogy. In parallel, he gained practical teaching experience through a one-year position as a drum teacher, which further sharpened his pedagogical abilities.
His central interests lie in contemporary, electroacoustic music but also in popular music. This was reflected, among other things, in his participation in performances of works by Sarah Nemtsov, John Cage, Steve Reich, and others, including at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Masterclasses with composers such as Sarah Nemtsov, Bruce Hamilton, and Ole Hübner, as well as collaboration with Ikumi Yamauchi, shaped his artistic development just as much as his involvement in an experimental reinterpretation of Mozart’s Requiem with extended percussion parts.

Alongside projects in chamber music, orchestra, and band work, he was also involved in interdisciplinary works that connected music with dance, video, and performance – on stage as well as in the context of video productions.
For around three years now, he has been channeling his artistic vision into a solo project in which vibraphone, marimba, drums, and electric guitar merge with digital soundscapes. His music moves between ambient, electronica, and instrumental sound art and is inspired by artists such as Jogging House, Hania Rani, Robot Koch, Ólafur Arnalds, as well as by composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass. Personal experiences, memories, and stories form the emotional core of his pieces.

In 2023, he released his first EP „Kram,“ which thematically engages with everyday moments and minimalism. Since then, he has been regularly bringing his music to the stage live – with performances in which electronic setups and acoustic instruments merge into an organic whole. Currently, he is working on new projects in which music, video, and narrative elements are woven together even more closely.
Since fall 2024, Lennart Gruenhagen has been studying in the Bachelor’s program MultiMediaArt with a focus on Audio at FH Salzburg, where he is further developing his skills in music production, performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in the context of film and media art.
Lennart Gruenhagen’s artistic goal is to open emotional spaces through music, create connections between people, and explore new interfaces between instrumental music, electronics, multimedia, and other art forms.
